1. Our approach to AI

SideKick uses artificial intelligence (AI) to make home improvement projects safer, more efficient, and more reliable for our Long Island community. We integrate AI tools to help homeowners and contractors connect with greater confidence. This policy explains how we use these technologies, their limitations, and your choices.

2. How we use AI

We currently use AI in three key areas. Credential review assistance: to help speed up onboarding, we use AI to analyze contractor-uploaded documentation (such as licenses and insurance) and flag information for review. This is an assisted review process, not a replacement for human due diligence. Project visualization: when posting a project, you may use our AI tool to generate descriptive preview images to better showcase your project needs. These images are for illustrative purposes only. Support assistant: our support chatbot is powered by AI to provide instant answers to common platform questions and direct you to the right resources, while always offering a way to reach our human support team for sensitive account issues.

3. Transparency & limitations

We believe in being clear about what AI can and cannot do. Our AI-assisted credential verification is a security layer, not an absolute guarantee; we encourage all homeowners to exercise their own judgment and perform their own due diligence when selecting a contractor. AI-generated project images are creative representations and do not depict actual photos of your property or specific work to be performed. We maintain human oversight of our AI systems and monitor them to align with our standards for quality and fairness.

4. Data security & privacy

Your data is important to us. When you upload documents for verification, we handle your information with strict security protocols. Data sent to AI models for processing is used solely for the purpose of the intended service (such as verifying a license) and is not used to train third-party public AI models. You retain ownership of the documents you upload to the Platform. Processing of personal data is further described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Shared responsibility

While we work hard to build a platform that fosters trust, SideKick acts as a marketplace facilitator. The ultimate hiring decision rests with you. We are not a party to the contracts between homeowners and contractors, and we encourage all users to discuss project scopes, insurance, and expectations clearly before starting any work. Nothing generated or reviewed by AI on the Platform constitutes legal, tax, or professional advice.

We may update this AI & Technology Policy as our use of technology evolves. Changes are effective when posted, with the updated date shown above. We encourage you to review it periodically.
