Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Rivet Industries LLC ("we", "us"), the operator of SideKick, collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use the Platform. We aim to be transparent about our practices so you can make informed choices. By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information we collect
Account information: your name, email address, phone number, and location (city and state) provided during registration and onboarding. Profile information: for Contractors, your company name, trade category, bio, years of experience, and license and insurance documents; for Homeowners, your property type. Project and listing information: project descriptions, budgets, deadlines, service listings, pricing, portfolios, and bid submissions including messages and attachments. Activity and usage data: the projects you view, bids you submit, messages you send, and analytics events such as profile views and bid inquiries. Technical data: device, browser, and log information collected automatically when you use the Platform.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to create and manage your account, display profiles and listings, facilitate bidding and booking, process payments, verify contractor credentials and display verification badges, enable messaging between users, send notifications and a weekly project recap to Contractors, generate reviews and ratings, support dispute resolution, monitor for fraud and misuse, comply with legal obligations, and improve and develop the Platform. We may also use aggregated or de-identified data that no longer identifies you for analytics and product improvement.
4. Document verification
When a Contractor uploads a license or insurance document, we use an automated analysis tool to review whether the document appears legitimate. The documents and the verification result are stored to support the verification badge and Platform trust features. Verification is automated and limited; it does not confirm legal validity, current status, or that the underlying coverage or license is in force.
5. Sharing of information
We share information between users as needed to operate the Platform. For example, Homeowners can see Contractor profiles, listings, verification status, and reviews, and Contractors can see open projects and contact details provided by Homeowners to coordinate work. We may share information with service providers that help us operate the Platform, such as our payment processor (Stripe) for handling bookings and payouts, and our document-analysis and email providers. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a sale or transfer of our business. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and measure how the Platform is used. More detail is available in our Cookie Policy. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may affect functionality.
7. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services, including retaining projects, bids, messages, payments, and verification records for the duration of any relationship and afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account, though we may retain certain information where required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
8. Your rights & choices
You may update or correct profile information through the Platform. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can also choose not to receive non-essential communications. To exercise these rights, contact us through the Platform's support channels. We will respond consistent with applicable law.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including limiting access to authorized personnel and using secure payment processing. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You help protect your account by keeping your credentials confidential and logging out of shared devices.
10. Children's privacy
The Platform is not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted, with the updated date shown above. We encourage you to review it periodically.
